Allison (Ally) Duncan
My varied career gives me a unique and broad perspective. I started in a call centre in a corporate environment where I gained experience in team management, customer service, administration, sales and people development. I studied educational practice and theory to become a primary teacher, and loved working in a collegiate environment to foster learning. These experiences gave me a broad range of skills and strengths that help me work with individuals, teams and organisations to achieve their goals on the page – because my first, last, and forever love is words.
I’m passionate about editing, writing, rewriting, co-writing and otherwise shaping written works, particularly in learning contexts. I established a writers’ group, Eltham Writers, to scratch my itch for writing short forms of fiction and to support other writers. I’ve blogged here and there, and written short stories and flash memoir with one piece shortlisted for the Melaleuca Blue Life Writing Competition and others published in journals and anthologies. I gained editorial accreditation through the Institute of Professional Editors in 2021 and have been working as an editor and instructional designer for four years. I live in Eltham, Victoria with two dogs, a cat and an actual human man.
